Neptune Rock (4f Muhaarar – Silent Thoughts, by Galileo) became Barronstown Stud’s second Stakes winner in the space of a week when taking the Listed Listowel Stakes on Tuesday.
Racing towards the back of the field under Shane Crosse, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly came wide on the turn for home and was pushed along upon entering the straight. Ridden approaching the final furlong, she ran on well to assert close home and led by half a length on the line.
Assistant trainer Brendan Powell was impressed by the winner, he said, “To come around them and win is a hell of a performance.”
Successful in a Leopardstown maiden last season, Neptune Rock is owned by Michael O’Flynn. Sold by Barronstown Stud to Rockfield Farm at the Goffs Orby Sale, she provides an important update for her No Nay Never half-sister who sells at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
The pair were bred by Barronstown out of a Galileo half-sister to three Stakes performers, including dual Group winner Yellow Rosebud.
