The progressive Paris Peacock (3f Muhaarar – Weekend Fling, by Forest Wildcat) broke her maiden in the best way possible, by landing the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park.

Jessica Harrington’s charge had claimed runners-up honours on five previous occasions and was beaten less than two lengths in a Listed contest last time out. Partnered by regular rider Shane Foley on Wednesday, she raced prominently throughout and was ridden from two furlongs out. Keeping on well, she asserted close home and led by a neck on the line.

Speaking after the race, Harrington said, “Paris Peacock has always worked well and I can’t believe she got beaten in so many maidens. Now that she has got her head in front who knows what she might do.”

Bred by Barronstown Stud, Paris Peacock is owned by Mrs David Nagle in partnership with Mrs Paul Shanahan and Mrs John Magnier. A half-sister to two Group performers, she provides an important update for her No Nay Never half-brother selling at Tattersalls Book 1.
