The Foxes (3f Churchill – Tanaghum, by Darshaan) continued a successful month for Barronstown broodmare Tanaghum when capturing Saturday’s maiden at Goodwood.
Andrew Balding showed he held the colt in high regard when running him in the Chesham Stakes on his second start, and remained over the seven furlong trip at Goodwood. Producing a challenge approaching the final furlong, he was ridden out to beat favourite Classic by a neck under David Probert.
“We’ve always thought a lot of him,” Balding later confirmed. “I told his owners to pick a really good name for this horse because from early on we thought he was probably quite good – hopefully it will work out.”
Owned by King Power Racing, The Foxes holds Group 1 entries in the Vertem Futurity and Epsom Derby. Sold by Barronstown Stud at Tattersalls Book 1, he is a full-brother to recent Listed winner Perotan, she being one of six Stakes performers out of Tanaghum.
