Perotan (3f Churchill – Tanaghum, by Darshaan) built on an impressive debut to make it two from two in Her Majesty’s Plate at Down Royal.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly was sent off favourite as she stepped up to a mile and six furlongs in the Listed contest, with Wayne Lordan taking the ride for the first time. The daughter of Churchill made headway after passing the three furlong pole and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong, before drawing clear to win by two lengths and three quarters.
Speaking after the race, stable representative Chris Armstrong said, “Wayne gave her a lovely ride and she has got plenty of class. Aidan and the team always held her in high regard. They gave her all the time to fill her frame. We are reaping the rewards now.”
The Barronstown-bred filly becomes an impressive fifth Stakes winner out of the mare Tanaghum.
