The Jessica Harrington-trained Torcedor (5g Fastnet Rock – Magnolia Lane, by Sadler’s Wells) made all to win the Group 3 Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan.

The Te Akau-owned bay remained over a mile and six furlongs, with his first run over that trip producing an impressive win on his seasonal return earlier in the month.  Once again ridden by Colm O’Donoghue, he began to extend his lead from three furlongs out and was ridden to hold off a challenge by the favourite Order Of St George, who he beat by a length and a half on the line.

The delighted winning trainer afterwards said, “Torcedor had to improve from Leopardstown and I loved the way he stayed every yard of it. I would say the owners would love to go to Ascot and if he went on improving that would be brilliant.”

The Barronstown Stud-bred Torcedor was bought by Te Akau Racing and BBA Ireland at the Arqana Yearling Sale. His dam, Magnolia Lane, is a full-sister to the top-class stayer Yeats, and a half-sister to Japanese Group 1 performer Tsukuba Symphony and Group 2 winner Solskjaer.
