The Caribbean (2c No Nay Never – Shermeen, by Desert Style) built on a promising run last time out to win a competitive maiden at Fairyhouse on Wednesday.

A fine second over course and distance last month, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was well-supported to get off the mark under Killian Hennessy. Racing prominently throughout the six furlong contest, he led from two furlongs out and kept on well under pressure to score by half a length.

Ballydoyle representative Chris Armstrong later mentioned the Anglesey Stakes as a potential target for The Carribean, who is owned by Coolmore partners with Westerberg. The Barronstown-bred bay is a half-brother to Group 1 scorer Sudirman, Stakes winner Star Of India and Group 3 second S J Tourbillon.
