Metallo (2c Caravaggio – Sweet Dreams Baby, by Montjeu) shaped like a smart prospect when winning Wednesday’s two-year-old maiden at Salisbury.
Jack Channon’s charge showed his inexperience on debut earlier in the month, but displayed a professional attitude when making all on his second start. Charlie Bishop asked the bay to quicken after the two furlong marker and his mount obliged to win by a length and a quarter.
Metallo was bred by Barronstown Stud and is a half-brother to two highly-rated horses in Hong Kong and Japan. He is a grandson of Barronstown’s homebred Epsom Oaks heroine Shahtoush.
