Matrika (2f No Nay Never – Muravka, by High Chaparral) booked her ticket to Royal Ascot when making a smart debut in Sunday’s Fillies’ Maiden at the Curragh.
The Barronstown-bred bay raced prominently after the first furlong, with Ryan Moore pushing Aidan O’Brien’s representative to lead before the final furlong. Pushed out to the line, she scored by three parts of a length.
Aidan O’Brien later earmarked the Group 3 Albany Stakes for Matrika, who is owned by Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Westerberg. Bred by Barronstown Stud, the daughter of No Nay Never is a full-sister to dual Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Unicorn Lion, and a half-sister to top-class two-year-old The Wow Signal.
