History (3f Galileo – Prize Exhibit, by Showcasing) became the second Barronstown-bred Group winner this week when taking the Group 3 Cornelscourt Stakes at Leopardstown.
Last seen winning her maiden in September, Aidan O’Brien’s charge faced the likes of Group 1 performer Agartha on return in the mile contest. Racing in midfield under Ryan Moore, she was ridden to make headway approaching the final furlong and led 110 yards out. Keeping on well, she beat the aforementioned favourite by three parts of a length on the line.
Speaking after the race, O’Brien said, “History came here to see if she had enough pace to run in the Irish Guineas or go for the Oaks. Ryan said to run her in the Guineas and that’s where we’ll go.”
Bought by MV Magnier at Tattersalls Book 1 for 2.8million guineas, History is owned by Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Westerberg. The daughter of Galileo is the first foal bred by Barronstown Stud out of dual Grade 2 winner Prize Exhibit, herself a full-sister to top-class miler Mohaather.
