The Barronstown-bred Technician (3c Mastercraftsman – Arosa, by Sadler’s Wells) continues to go from strength to strength and most recently added the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay to his CV.
Twice a Stakes winner already this season, the Martyn Meade-trained colt was stepping up to a mile and seven furlongs for the first time. Pierre-Charles Boudot rode him towards the back of the field, making steady headway from over three furlongs out and began to chase down the leader in earnest approaching the final furlong. He gained the upper hand on leader and favourite Moonlight Spirit 100 yards from the line, running on to score by three parts of a length.
Owned by Team Valor since his maiden win in April, Technician was shrewdly bought as a yearling by Dermot Farrington for €40,000. He is one of two black-type horses bred by Barronstown Stud out of their homebred Stakes winner Arosa.
