Sugar Ray made virtually all the running in the hands of Moore to win the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap.

Moore gradually wound up the pace and had enough in the tank to withstand Mad Rush's challenge throughout the final furlong and hold on by a neck.

Owner Philip Newton said: "I have had three runners here this week and to get a winner is unbelievable.

"Ryan is a very good jockey and the horse tried very, very hard for him."
