The Barronstown-bred Aesop’s Fables (2c No Nay Never – How’s She Cuttin’, by Shinko Forest) produced a smart debut performance to win Saturday’s two-year-old maiden at Navan.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien for Coolmore partners and Westerberg, the son of No Nay Never was well-supported for the contest run over just short of six furlongs. Tracking the leader under Ryan Moore, the bay was ridden to lead a furlong from home and ran on well to win by a comfortable two and a quarter lengths.
Speaking after the race, stable representative Chris Armstrong said, “We’ll try and give him one run before Ascot – it will either be in the valuable winners’ race at Naas or there’s a winners’ of one at the Curragh on June 1st. He’s got plenty of options and is one you would love to have in your stable.”
Aesop’s Fables was bred by Barronstown Stud out of How’s She Cuttin’, making him a half-brother to Windsor Castle Stakes winner and Group 1 performer Washington DC and Chester Stakes runner-up Sandhurst.
