A drop back in trip saw the Barronstown Stud-bred Oh So True (3f American Pharoah – Shawara, by Barathea) gain her maiden victory at Gowran Park on Wednesday.
Trained by Donnacha O’Brien for Coolmore partners, the well-bred bay faced 12 rivals in the nine and a half furlong maiden and was ridden to chase the leaders by Wayne Lordan. Pushed along from the three furlong marker, she made good headway to lead entering the final furlong and kept on well to win by a length and a quarter.
Oh So True brought strong form into the race, having finished third on debut behind recent Group 3 winner Snow, who was also bred by Barronstown Stud. The daughter of American Triple Crown hero American Pharoah is a half-sister to four Stakes horses, including dual Group 1 winner Shareta.
A yearling full-sister to Oh So True sells at Keeneland on September 14th (view catalogue here).
